RELEASE FROM CRAIG INGRAM MP - MEMBER FOR GIPPSLAND EAST Issued: Monday 21 Novemeber 2006 |
The Independent Member for Gippsland East, Craig Ingram, has described the National Party’s negative election advertising campaign as “a clear indication that they just don’t get it”.
“The photograph used on the latest National Party election mail-out and print advertisements is a photo of when the passenger train was returned to East Gippsland,” Mr Ingram said.
“East Gippsland joined with me and the Premier on that day to say thumbs up for the train’s return, but the negative Nats were not to be seen.
“The Nationals should be apologising for their insipid performance when they backed government to take the train away, instead of using images of the train’s return for a negative election campaigning.
“I welcome the use of this image, as it will assist in reminding voters of the failure of the Nationals in government and how they treated Gippsland East.
“The National Party has shown in the past that they do not support public transport and it’s no wonder that they hate the positive and celebratory nature of the day the train returned to Stratford and Bairnsdale.
“It is extremely disappointing that the National Party has taken the image from a website without the permission of the website owner and the photographer.
“This arrogant breach of copyright laws clearly displays that the Nats believe they do not have to comply with the laws.
“East Gippsland is still waiting for an apology from the National Party for allowing the passenger train to be removed, but all they get is negative nasty politics from a desperate political party breaching electoral and copyright laws in the heat of an election,” Mr Ingram concluded.
