The Independent Member for Gippsland East, Craig Ingram, has called on the State Government to match the Federal Government’s commitment to support the East Gippsland Supports Foundation.
The request follows representation over a number of years to the State Government for their financial support of the program.
Recently, Mr Ingram and representatives from the East Gippsland Sports Foundation met with the state’s Minister for Sport, James Merlino, requesting support for this important regional sports assistance program.
“Following the commitment from the federal coalition of $300,000, I have requested that the State Government matches this funding, which will secure this program in perpetuity.
“This program has filled a gap in the need to support local athletes with talent to reach their potential.
“The State Government has an opportunity to support young sports talent in East Gippsland through this program and should match the Federal Government’s commitment,” Mr Ingram concluded.
