RELEASE FROM
CRAIG INGRAM MP - MEMBER FOR GIPPSLAND EAST
Issued: Friday, 10 November 2006 |
|
The Independent Member for Gippsland East, Craig Ingram, said today that on his re-election a priority of the next term would be ensure funding for major facilities upgrades at both the Maffra primary and secondary schools.
These schools have recently gone through the master planning process under the Building Futures program and both have proven the need for major investment in building upgrades.
Mr Ingram said that over $6 million would be required to improve the facilities at Maffra to ensure a quality education and teaching environment for the community.
“The first stages of the Maffra Primary school Redevelopment have been built and now it is essential that the next stages in the facilities upgrade are funded.
One of my top priorities as an MP has always been working to ensure quality public education in Gippsland East.
“It’s clear from my visits to both Maffra secondary and primary schools they deserve to be a high priority for funding under Building Futures.
“Providing good education facilities assists in ensuring good education outcomes for our children.
“I have recently had discussions with both schools and have been briefed on their plans for upgrading. I fully support the schools in their applications for funding.
“My commitment is that, if re elected on November 25, I will work with the Maffra community, the education department and the government to ensure that these schools gain funding for these facilities, Mr Ingram concluded.
