As your independent representative in the Parliament of Victoria, I invite you to contact me if I can be of assistance with any State Government matters. Other services my office provides include:

CONGRATULATORY MESSAGES

The Protocol and Special Events Branch of the Victorian Government Department of Premier and Cabinet has advised that a six (6) to eight (8) week notice period is the standard requirement for congratulatory message requests.

The Protocol and Special Events Branch of the Department of Premier and Cabinet will prepare letters from the Premier to Victorians celebrating their:

  • Golden Wedding Anniversary - 50 years
  • Diamond Wedding Anniversary - 60 years
  • 65th and 70th Wedding Anniversaries
  • 90th Birthday
  • 100th Birthday
  • Birthday over 100 if a special request is made.

Requests should be lodged with the nominee's State Member of Parliament, such as Craig Ingram MLA for Gippsland East.  Upon receipt of requests, including the required evidentiary documentation, these are vetted and endorsed by an Electorate Officer of the Member of Parliament and faxed to the Protocol and Special Events Branch of Premier and Cabinet.

The Protocol & Special Events Branch, part of the Premier’s Department, also send the request through to the Governor of Victoria and relevant areas of the Australian Government for messages to be arranged from the Federal Member of Parliament, the Prime Minister, the Governor-General, and also The Queen (where applicable).

The Prime Minister will send a message of congratulations to people turning 90 years of age or more. The Queen and Governor-General will send a message on a 100th birthday. On request, the Prime Minister and the Governor-General will write again every year and The Queen will write again every five years.

The Prime Minister and Governor-General send messages to couples celebrating 50 years of marriage and subsequent wedding anniversaries. The Queen sends messages to couples celebrating 60 years of marriage and will write every five years after that on request.

You will need to provide supporting documentation like birth certificates or marriage certificates. If these are not available you can provide a statutory declaration. Statutory declaration forms are available from Craig Ingram's office or any post office.

Anniversary messages can be delivered directly to the recipient or to a care-of address for surprises.

Craig Ingram MLA, as State Member for Gippsland East, will send a letter of personal congratulations and also provides advice to the East Gippsland Shire Council Mayor of the forthcoming event.

Please Note:  You can request a belated message up to one month after the birthday or wedding anniversary has passed.
